Sandvikens IF striker Calvin Kabuye is turning heads across Sweden and beyond after a stellar season in the Superettan.
The Swedish-born Ugandan, who joined Sandvikens from AIK ahead of this season, has become one of the league’s hottest prospects.
Kabuye’s debut season with Sandvikens saw him rack up 14 points in 29 games, including nine goals and five assists, as the club secured a respectable sixth-place finish. His electric form has sparked interest from clubs throughout Sweden and abroad, with Sandvikens IF reportedly set on breaking their sales record if a transfer materializes.
“There is interest in Calvin, there absolutely is,” confirmed Sporting Director Peter Svensson. However, the club intends to demand a substantial fee for their prized asset, with their current record being the sale of Danilo Al-Saed, which included a lucrative resale clause.
With a contract binding Kabuye to Sandvikens until 2026, any suitor will need to present a convincing offer. “If all parties are willing, it usually works out,” Svensson remarked, leaving the door open for negotiations.
Will Sandvikens cash in on their rising star, or can they hold on to him? Only time will tell.
