Abubaker Osman joins Al-Sadd as Qatar goalkeeper swaps Al-Khor for Stars League
Qatar and Sudan goalkeeper Abubaker Osman has joined Al-Sadd from Al-Khor SC, completing a move to the Stars League club on 3 August 2026.
The 20-year-old has signed a contract with Al-Sadd that runs until 30 June 2031. Osman is a left-footed goalkeeper and stands 1.87 metres tall.
His move takes him from Al-Khor, who play in the Qatari Second Division, to one of the country’s leading clubs in the top flight. Osman had been with Al-Khor before making the switch, having returned to the club at the end of the 2025-26 season after a spell in Spain.
Osman spent the 2025-26 campaign with Calahorra. He initially joined Calahorra from Al-Khor on loan in August 2024, moving to the Spanish side’s reserve team, CD Calahorra B. He then joined Calahorra permanently in July 2025 before returning to Al-Khor when that season ended.
The goalkeeper began his senior pathway with Al-Khor after progressing from the club’s academy. His move to Al-Sadd now brings him into the squad of a Stars League side following his time in Qatar’s second tier and his period in the Spanish football system.
Osman has both Qatari and Sudanese nationality. He was born on 25 September 2005 and joins Al-Sadd at the age of 20, with the club securing his services for the next five seasons.
The transfer was registered on 3 August, marking the latest step in a career that has included football in Qatar and Spain. Al-Sadd will now have Osman available as part of its goalkeeping group for the 2026-27 campaign.
Osman’s Al-Sadd contract is due to run until 30 June 2031.
