Falkenbergs bring in Swedish-Tanzanian defender Ayo Rupia-Ellis from Karlbergs BK

Falkenbergs FF have signed Swedish-Tanzanian right-back Ayo Rupia-Ellis from Karlbergs BK, adding the 21-year-old defender to their squad on 3 August 2026.

Rupia-Ellis has agreed a contract with Falkenbergs running until 31 December 2030. The move takes him from Karlbergs, who play in Ettan Norra, to Falkenbergs’ Superettan squad.

The right-back had made 13 appearances for Karlbergs in Ettan Norra during the 2026 season before completing his move, scoring once and providing one assist. He also featured once in the Svenska Cupen, playing the full 90 minutes.

Rupia-Ellis started all of his recorded cup appearances and was named in the starting line-up for 87% of Karlbergs’ league matches. He made 13 league appearances from the club’s first 15 possible games, contributing to eight per cent of their recorded goals through his goal and assist.

The transfer continues a career that began in the AIK academy system. Rupia-Ellis moved from AIK’s youth set-up to AIK Under-17s in January 2021, progressing to the Under-19 side two years later.

He left AIK Under-19 for Taby FK in September 2024 in a free transfer and joined Karlbergs BK in February 2025. His spell at Karlbergs preceded the switch to Falkenbergs, where he will now continue his senior career at a higher level of Swedish football.

Born on 18 July 2005, Rupia-Ellis has both Swedish and Tanzanian nationality. He stands 1.82m tall and plays primarily on the right side of defence.

Falkenbergs have secured Rupia-Ellis’ services through the end of 2030, with the defender now registered as part of their squad.
