CAF selects Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae and Morocco’s Chamakh for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers draw tomorrow
In a statement released today, CAF stated, “In less than 24 hours, the official draw for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifiers will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, where 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups of 4 teams each.”
The draw will be conducted directly from Johannesburg at 14:30 local time (12:30 GMT) and 15:30 Egypt time, with participation from TotalEnergies CAF Cup champion Emerse Fae alongside Moroccan legend Marouane Chamakh.
Who is Emerse Fae, the Ivory Coast Coach?
Emerse Fae, aged 40, has etched his name in the annals of Ivorian football history by guiding the Elephants to continental glory, overseeing a dramatic transformation that culminated in their third African title.
Fae’s strategic prowess was pivotal in navigating the team through thrilling encounters, climaxing in a victorious final against Nigeria.
Marouane Chamakh’s Football Legacy
Marouane Chamakh is revered as one of Morocco’s finest strikers, boasting a distinguished international career and a successful tenure with European clubs.
Chamakh honed his skills at Girondins de Bordeaux from a young age before making a significant impact at Arsenal and Crystal Palace, amassing 230 appearances and scoring 56 goals between 2002 and 2010.
Chamakh, who earned 65 international caps with Morocco, played a crucial role in the team’s runner-up finish at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.
