Newcastle prepare €120m bid for Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha

Newcastle United are reportedly preparing a major bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, creating a difficult decision for the Bundesliga club.

According to Sky, the Premier League side view the 25-year-old as their preferred option to strengthen the centre of midfield.

Dortmund consider Nmecha an important part of their sporting plans, but Newcastle’s expected proposal could test that commitment. The potential offer is believed to be worth between €100 million and €120 million, a figure that would approach the German club’s reported internal threshold for selling the midfielder.

Newcastle have the financial strength to make such an approach after raising substantial funds through recent departures. The club reportedly collected €108 million from Sandro Tonali’s move to Tottenham and €80 million from Anthony Gordon’s transfer to Barcelona. Bruno Guimaraes could also leave for Arsenal in a deal worth approximately €87 million.

Those sales have created a need for reinforcement in midfield, with Nmecha emerging as Newcastle’s main target. Dortmund must now choose between accepting a record offer or retaining a player they value highly. Waiting could carry a risk, however, as Nmecha’s contract reportedly includes an €80 million release clause for next year.
