RCD Mallorca have completed the loan signing of Angolan centre-forward Zito Luvumbo from Cagliari Calcio, securing the 23-year-old until 30/06/2026. The deal, officially registered as a loan transfer, sees the Serie A side retain his rights, with the player scheduled to return to Cagliari on 30/06/2026 at the end of the agreement.
Luvumbo arrives in Palma with a current market value of €3.50m and will join a Mallorca side competing in LaLiga, giving the Luanda-born attacker a new stage outside Italy and far from his home country of Angola. The move marks his first spell in Spanish football after several seasons in the Italian system, and confirms Mallorca’s intent to add pace and directness to their forward line without a permanent outlay.
The forward’s switch is the latest step in a career that has taken him from Angolan youth football to European top-flight leagues. Having come through Guelson FC, he moved into the CD 1º de Agosto structure, progressing from the U17s to the U20s before reaching the first team of CD 1º de Agosto. From there, he made the jump to Europe, joining Cagliari’s Primavera side and later experiencing senior football in Italy’s professional tiers.
Luvumbo’s European journey has included a loan spell with Como 1907, followed by a return to Cagliari’s Primavera setup and then promotion to Cagliari’s first team. That pathway exposed him to Serie A and Italian football at various levels, helping to build the profile that now underpins his move to LaLiga. Listed primarily as an attack-focused centre-forward and a left-footed player, he offers Mallorca a different profile at the top end of the pitch.
Contractually, the structure of this deal means there is no immediate indication of a permanent transfer, and his future beyond 30/06/2026 remains tied to Cagliari, with the possibility that he could reassess his options at that point. For now, though, the arrangement guarantees Mallorca the services of a young attacking option at a clearly defined cost and timeframe.
At international level in terms of nationality, Luvumbo is Angolan, and his switch to Spain further underlines the steady outward flow of talent from Angola into Europe’s major leagues. By joining Mallorca in LaLiga, he steps into one of the continent’s most visible competitions, which could influence both his market value and his long-term prospects.
From Cagliari’s perspective, the loan allows them to manage the development and exposure of an asset whose valuation has fluctuated in recent years but currently stands at €3.50m. For Mallorca, the agreement adds depth and potential upside to their squad in an environment where goals and attacking versatility are at a premium.
If Luvumbo adapts quickly to Spanish football and performs consistently over the course of his loan, this period in LaLiga could become a defining chapter in his career, shaping his reputation in European football and determining whether his future lies back in Serie A, in Spain, or elsewhere once his contractually agreed return date of 30/06/2026 arrives.
