Younes Idder: Five things to know about Paris Saint-Germain’s rising Moroccan talent

At 18, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Younes Idder is continuing to make progress through the club’s academy and has now moved closer to first-team football. The France-born attacking midfielder has also chosen to represent Morocco at youth level, making him a player to watch for the country’s future.

Paris-born with French and Moroccan nationality

Born in Paris on 18 January 2008, Idder holds both French and Moroccan nationality. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, although he is also capable of operating in a central midfield role.

Standing at about 1.73m, he is known for his technical ability, awareness and involvement in building attacking moves. His style allows him to find space between the lines and help create chances for his team-mates.

A PSG academy graduate

Idder joined the Paris Saint-Germain academy in 2020, aged 12, and has progressed through the club’s youth structure. He has represented the U15, U17 and U19 teams during his development in Paris.

His growing importance was underlined in the summer of 2026 when he signed a two-year trainee contract with PSG, keeping him at the club until 2028. The agreement represented a significant show of faith in his potential from the Parisian club’s hierarchy.

Part of a historic U19 double

The 2025/26 season marked an important stage in Idder’s development. He contributed to an outstanding campaign for PSG’s U19 side as they won both the Championnat National U19 and the Coupe Gambardella.

Those two trophies highlighted the strength of the club’s generation of young players. For Idder, involvement in the double also provided valuable experience of national competitions and matches carrying significant pressure.

Luis Enrique gives him a first-team opportunity

Idder’s performances at youth level attracted the attention of PSG manager Luis Enrique. In August 2026, the Spanish coach selected him for the club’s first pre-season match against Real Majorque.

Idder came on during the game, giving him his first experience of the professional environment. The appearance brought him closer to the senior squad and exposed him to the demands of top-level football.

Luis Enrique later included him among the 20 players selected for PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Troyes on matchday 10. Idder must now continue working to earn further opportunities with the first team.

A Morocco youth international

Although eligible to play for France and Morocco, Idder has chosen to represent Morocco at youth level. He has been called up by the Morocco U18 team and scored on his international debut.

He has also continued his development with PSG in the UEFA Youth League. Against Slovan Bratislava, he produced an influential display by scoring once and providing two assists in a 6-1 victory.

That performance underlined his attacking qualities and ability to affect matches. As an emerging Morocco international, Idder is regarded as an intriguing prospect for the future of Moroccan football.
