Algeria forward Mohamed Amine Amoura has declared that the current generation of Fennecs is determined to capture a third Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) crown when the tournament kicks off in Morocco this December.

In an interview with CAFonline.com, the in-form Wolfsburg striker said Algeria’s ambition, confidence, and collective strength will be key as they prepare to face Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan in Group E.

“We know it’s a strong group with very respectable teams. We respect everyone, but we fear no one,” said Amoura. “We have a balanced squad with outstanding players and we will prove our value on the pitch.”

The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form for both club and country, finding the net consistently in recent AFCON and World Cup qualifiers. He credited his performances to hard work and the trust placed in him by the coaching staff and teammates.

“AFCON is special. Every match can change a campaign. So I want to be as ready as possible,” he said.

Amoura emphasized that Algeria’s target is not just participation but genuine contention for the title.

“Our goal is to go deep into the tournament and represent Algeria in the best possible way. We want to make our fans happy and, God willing, fight for the title. But that requires focus and taking it step by step.”

He described team unity as Algeria’s greatest strength:

“The key is team spirit. We have a talented generation, but our real strength is our unity and solidarity on and off the field.”

Under coach Vladimir Petković, Algeria will open their AFCON campaign against Sudan on 24 December at Rabat’s Moulay Hassan Stadium. They will then face Burkina Faso on 28 December before meeting Equatorial Guinea on 31 December, all in the Moroccan capital.

The squad is expected to feature a blend of experience and youth, with stars such as Riyad Mahrez, Ismaël Bennacer, Houssem Aouar, Rayan Aït-Nouri, and Youcef Atal anticipated to return from injury.

Amoura concluded with a heartfelt message to Algerian supporters:

“Our dear fans are our source of strength. We feel your support everywhere. We promise to fight in every match so that, God willing, we can all be proud of Algeria.”
