Hunt ‘disappointed’ after draw with Sekhukhune United F.C.

Gavin Hunt said he was “disappointed that we drew the game” after his side were held by Sekhukhune United F.C. at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Friday night.

The experienced coach spoke candidly at his post-match press conference, where questions continued over the team’s structure and his selection decisions.

Hunt explained that he is still testing different combinations and tactical approaches as he works towards settling on the team’s preferred setup. He also outlined the standards he expects the starting lineup to reach before he will be satisfied with the balance and performance of the side.

One of the individual decisions he addressed was the handling of Quwan Plaatjies. Hunt explained why the player was brought on as a second-half substitute instead of being named in the starting lineup.

The coach also expressed increasing frustration with the logistical difficulties affecting the team away from the pitch. In particular, he highlighted the continued disruption caused by the side’s inability to play matches at Danie Craven Stadium.

Hunt’s comments came after a result that left him dissatisfied, while the team’s tactical identity and personnel choices remain under scrutiny.
