Brian Brobbey delighted with Sunderland’s confidence as Dutch-Ghanaian striker signs new deal until 2031
Brian Brobbey has expressed delight at the confidence Sunderland have shown in him after signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2031.
The Dutch striker has committed his future to the Black Cats after establishing himself as an important figure in their attack since arriving from Ajax in September 2025.
The 24-year-old has made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals, including a memorable hat-trick against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in September.
That performance made him the first Sunderland player to score a Premier League hat-trick since Jermain Defoe achieved the feat in 2016.
Brobbey believes the club’s faith in his abilities has given him further motivation to develop and contribute to Sunderland’s ambitions.
“I’m really happy with the confidence the club has shown in me. Since I arrived, I’ve felt the ambition here, and I want to keep growing and improving as a player,” he said.
The forward also highlighted his pride in helping Sunderland secure European qualification, describing the achievement as a significant moment in the club’s history.
“Representing Sunderland in the Premier League is both an honour and a privilege. Having played my part in helping this club qualify for European competition is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s an achievement that will always be part of the club’s history,” he added.
Brobbey is determined to improve his individual output and continue delivering for the supporters as Sunderland pursue their domestic and European ambitions.
