Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab coach Sami Qumsan eplains Al Ahly defeat

Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab coach Sami Qumsan has attributed his team’s 1-0 defeat to Al Ahly in the Egyptian Professional Clubs League Cup to fatigue and injury problems within his squad.

The Arab Contractors struggled to produce their best performance against the Egyptian giants, with Qumsan admitting that the physical condition of his players affected their ability to execute their preferred style of play.

The coach explained that his side found it difficult to make effective attacking transitions, while the physical demands of the encounter further complicated their efforts to compete against Al Ahly.

Speaking to ON Sport after the match, Qumsan acknowledged his team’s shortcomings and disclosed that several players were dealing with fatigue and injuries.

“We did not succeed in implementing our style, especially with regard to attacking transitions. We were also suffering from fatigue and had many injuries. The players exerted a great deal of physical effort, and I tried to rest them,” he said.

Despite the disappointing result, Qumsan insists that his team must quickly turn their attention to their upcoming assignments, particularly the Egypt Cup, as they look to put the defeat behind them and return to winning ways.

The Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab coach also assessed his team’s previous performance against Zamalek, maintaining that his players showed encouraging physical and technical qualities despite failing to secure victory.

“We deal with each match individually, and we performed well both physically and technically against Zamalek, but we were not successful in achieving victory,” he added.

Meanwhile, Qumsan provided an update on Mohamed Abdel Nasser’s condition, revealing that the player is suffering from a fungal infection in his foot and is expected to undergo surgery.

The coach expressed optimism about the player’s recovery, hoping the procedure would go smoothly and allow him to return to action as soon as possible.

Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab still have three matches remaining in the League Cup, and Qumsan will be eager to see his players overcome their fitness challenges and deliver improved performances in the remaining fixtures.
