Tunisia v Uganda: TV channel, kick-off time and how to watch CAN 2027 qualifier

Tunisia begin their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations against Uganda at the Stade Hamadi Agrebi in Rades on Thursday.

The match will start at 20:00 Tunisia time (GMT+1), which is 21:00 in France. It will be shown on Watania and beIN Sports Mena 1 in Tunisia, while viewers in France can watch it on beIN Sports Max 5.

The fixture represents the start of a new era for the Carthage Eagles, with Mouine Chaabani taking charge of the national team.

Herve Renard had replaced Sabri Lamouchi during the 2026 World Cup, but subsequently left the post. Chaabani, a Tunisian coach, has now been appointed as the team looks to move on from what was described as a disappointing campaign in North America.

For his first squad, Chaabani has retained 14 players who featured at the World Cup. There has also been a measure of change, following the international retirements of Elyes Skhiri and Rani Khedira.

Among the experienced players returning to the squad are Ferjani Sassi, Ali Maaloul and Aissa Laidouni. Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Hamza Rafia, Sayfallah Ltaief and Amine Cherni have also been recalled after missing the tournament.

Chaabani has included three players receiving their first Tunisia call-ups: Samy Chouchane, Sadok Kedida and Mohamed Nasraoui.

However, Tunisia will be without Hannibal Mejbri, who is injured. Ali Abdi has also been managed carefully after returning from injury. Chaabani said that decision was not a punishment linked to a controversial video in which Abdi said he had prioritised his club, Nice, over Tunisia before the World Cup.

Uganda have already secured qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations as co-hosts, but are taking part in the qualifying competition alongside Tunisia. Libya and Botswana make up the rest of the group and will meet in the other fixture.

The two sides are familiar opponents. They last played each other in the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, when Tunisia recorded a 3-1 victory. Elias Achouri scored twice in that match and is included in Chaabani’s latest squad.
