Sofyan Amrabat attracts Saudi Pro League interest as Al Qadsiah and Al Ittihad make approach

Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat could leave Fenerbahce this summer, with two Saudi Pro League clubs reported to have opened talks over a potential transfer.

Turkish outlet Fanatik says top-flight Saudi sides Al Qadsiah and Al Ittihad have both contacted Fenerbahce to enquire about the 29-year-old’s availability.

Amrabat has just returned to the Turkish club after spending last season on loan in Spain with Real Betis, but his long-term future in Istanbul now appears uncertain.

Although the Morocco international is under contract with Fenerbahce until 2028, the club’s hierarchy is understood to be willing to sanction his departure if they receive what they consider to be a satisfactory offer.

Saudi interest gathers pace

Al Qadsiah and Al Ittihad are described as having made concrete moves to assess the conditions of a deal for the midfielder, who was born in Huizen in the Netherlands.

Both clubs are backed by significant financial resources, and their “XXL” spending power is seen as a major advantage in meeting any transfer fee demanded by Fenerbahce.

Fanatik reports that these financial capabilities should greatly ease the payment of any indemnity required to complete the move, should negotiations progress.

Amrabat’s current agreement with Fenerbahce runs for another four years, which theoretically gives the Turkish club a strong position in any talks.

However, the existence of an official “bon de sortie” – formal permission to leave if a suitable proposal arrives – indicates Fenerbahce are prepared to let him go under the right conditions.

No fee figures, salary terms or contract details with the Saudi clubs are mentioned at this stage, and there is no indication that any formal bid has yet been submitted.

Amrabat, 29, spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Real Betis in La Liga before returning to Fenerbahce at the end of the season.
