Trabzonspor taunt Besiktas with Salah-inspired messages after 2-0 win

Trabzonspor sent pointed messages to Besiktas after beating their rivals 2-0, using Egyptian star Mohamed Salah’s image and a series of social media posts to add to the rivalry.

Goals from Ozan Tufan and Mohamed Salah secured the victory on Monday, extending Trabzonspor’s impressive run under German coach Thomas Reis.

The result was followed by two provocative messages aimed at Besiktas, who had reportedly held official negotiations with Salah last summer but failed to reach an agreement.

Trabzonspor use Salah in social media taunts

The first message came in a video shared by Trabzonspor, depicting a man carrying a bag as he approaches a receptionist standing in front of the club’s logo.

The receptionist tells him that “your money is worthless”, before another person takes the bag from the man, who appears to represent Besiktas, in an apparent reference to the failed transfer negotiations.

After leaving and getting into his car, the man opens the bag to discover a Trabzonspor shirt. A message displaying the 2-0 scoreline appears alongside the words: “The three points will stay here”.

The video then returns to the receptionist, who removes his wig to reveal that he is Mohamed Salah.

The clip ends with the phrase “The game has begun”, which is then deleted and replaced by “The game is over”.

‘Checkmate’: Salah crowned on chessboard

Trabzonspor followed the video with another post featuring Salah wearing a royal crown while standing on a chessboard.

The image carried the message “checkmate”, reinforcing the club’s taunt after their victory over Besiktas.

The posts recalled the failed negotiations between Besiktas and Salah last summer. The club’s president had previously made controversial comments suggesting Besiktas did not want the Egyptian forward, while insisting that head coach Vincenzo Italiano had not wanted to complete the deal.

Trabzonspor’s latest messages have now added another chapter to the story, with Salah at the centre of the club’s celebrations after the 2-0 victory.
