Morocco reach fourth successive Futsal Africa Cup of Nations final after defeating Egypt

Morocco moved into a fourth consecutive Futsal Africa Cup of Nations final with a 6-0 victory over Egypt in Rabat, keeping alive their hopes of winning an unprecedented fourth straight title.

The reigning champions, playing at home for the third successive edition, produced a dominant display against Egypt in the second and final semi-final at the Palais des Sports Prince Moulay Abdellah on Monday.

Soufian Charraoui opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a volley after an error by the Egyptian goalkeeper. Ismail Amazal doubled Morocco’s advantage a minute later, finishing a well-worked team move.

Amazal then added his second in the 15th minute, with the goal confirmed after a VAR review following another uncertain decision by the visiting goalkeeper.

Morocco continued to control the match after the interval. Bilal Bakkali made it 4-0 in the 22nd minute with a powerful shot into the top corner, before Charraoui completed his hat-trick with goals in the 31st and 38th minutes.

The result maintains Morocco’s perfect record in the tournament. They have won all four of their matches, scoring 22 goals without conceding.

Morocco are now only the second national side to reach four successive finals in the competition. Egypt remain the record holders, having appeared in six consecutive finals from the inaugural edition in 1996 through to 2020.

A victory against Angola on Wednesday would make Morocco the only team to win four successive Futsal Africa Cup of Nations titles. Angola reached the final by beating Algeria 3-2 earlier on Monday evening.

Morocco could also achieve another unique feat if they keep a clean sheet in the final. No team has previously completed the tournament without conceding a goal.
