Morocco winger Brahim Díaz linked with $25m move to Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad have reportedly offered Real Madrid $25 million for Moroccan international Brahim Díaz as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
The Saudi club are understood to be targeting the 27-year-old midfielder amid reports that he has struggled to secure regular playing time under Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho.
Transfer reports published on Sunday and Monday, including information attributed to journalist Ekrem Konur, indicate that Al-Ittihad are interested in securing Díaz’s signature.
However, the Moroccan international is reportedly reluctant to leave the Spanish capital, preferring to stay at Real Madrid and fight for a more prominent role.
Neither club has publicly confirmed the reported offer.
Díaz faces competition at Real Madrid
Díaz has found opportunities limited despite making a promising start to the season.
He impressed during Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Inter Milan, providing an assist for Kylian Mbappé and creating several chances.
His playing time has since declined, with Spanish newspaper AS reporting that persistent muscular discomfort has affected him. Despite the issue, he has continued training and remains available for selection.
The Moroccan faces competition for places in Madrid’s attack from Vinicius Junior, Arda Güler, Yan Diomandé and Endrick.
Díaz has nevertheless continued to contribute to Morocco’s national team, scoring in their 2-0 victory over Lesotho in September during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Real Madrid face decision over Díaz’s future
Díaz’s future could become a talking point ahead of the January transfer window if his opportunities at Real Madrid remain limited.
His publicly listed contract runs until 30 June 2027, although Spanish media have previously reported that an agreement has been reached to extend his stay until at least 2030.
According to AS, the proposed extension had been agreed between the player and the club but had yet to be officially announced.
Díaz returned to Real Madrid in 2023 after spending three seasons on loan at AC Milan, where he helped the Italian club win the Serie A title in 2022.
