Senegal midfielder Momar Mbaye has joined Pikine from Sonacos on a free transfer, completing a move that takes the 20-year-old defensive midfielder into Senegal’s Ligue 1.

Mbaye’s switch was completed on 3 September 2026 after he left Sonacos, who compete in Ligue 2. No transfer fee was paid for the move, with the player moving to Pikine without a reported fee.

The right-footed midfielder is listed at 1.82m and has established himself in a central defensive role. His career record includes 26 appearances in Ligue 1, in which he scored twice and provided one assist. He has also scored once in a Coupe de la Ligue appearance.

Mbaye joins a Pikine side competing in Senegal’s top division, giving the club a player with experience of senior football at the highest domestic level. His arrival also marks a step up from Sonacos’ Ligue 2 environment to a team operating in Ligue 1.

Born on 29 September 2005, Mbaye is a Senegal international by nationality and remains 20 years old at the time of the transfer. His listed market value is €75,000, while the move itself was completed for free.

The midfielder’s previous campaign included a substantial run of league football, with 2,028 minutes played across his Ligue 1 appearances. He also played 120 minutes in the Coupe de la Ligue, where he found the net once.

Pikine have completed the signing as part of their squad for the 2026-27 season, with Mbaye joining the club from Sonacos after his contract situation allowed the free transfer.

Mbaye has now officially switched from Sonacos to Pikine on a free transfer.
