Saint-Étienne’s €7 Million bid for Mohamed Bamba rejected by FC Lorient
AS Saint-Étienne has made a significant move in their quest to enhance their attacking lineup by offering €7 million for Mohamed Bamba of FC Lorient. The French club, which has been relegated to Ligue 2, has seen its offer turned down by Lorient, who are reportedly seeking a higher sum for the 22-year-old Ivorian forward.
According to Foot Mercato, Saint-Étienne is keen on securing Bamba’s services to bolster their attacking options.
Bamba, who joined FC Lorient in the winter transfer window, made a notable impact during the second half of the season.
In his 16 appearances, he netted eight goals, including six in his first six matches.
The rejection of the €7 million offer indicates FC Lorient’s valuation of Bamba is higher, and negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
Saint-Étienne remains focused on securing the striker, although they face competition from other interested clubs.
In addition to Bamba, AS Saint-Étienne had shown interest in Guinea international Thierno Barry.
However, Barry has since transferred to Villarreal, leaving Saint-Étienne to concentrate on their pursuit of Bamba.
As discussions continue, the outcome of this transfer saga will be closely watched, with both clubs working to finalize the deal under the pressure of the closing transfer window.
