Paris FC are waiting for further news on Samir Chergui after the defender was forced off during their Ligue 1 meeting with FC Lorient this weekend.
Chergui, 27, started in central defence but asked to be substituted in the 65th minute after feeling a muscular discomfort. The Paris FC staff decided to take no risks and replaced him immediately to prevent the problem from worsening.
The Algeria international had only just returned from the national team camp, where he had been rested for the final two matches. He had appeared to be performing well against Lorient before experiencing the pain that brought his afternoon to an early end.
Lorient took the lead a few minutes after Chergui left the pitch, with Paris FC unable to respond and eventually failing to get back on level terms.
The defender’s condition is now the main concern for Paris FC. Medical examinations are expected to provide a precise diagnosis and determine whether he will need a period of rest.
Any absence would be a concern for the club, with Chergui having established himself as one of Paris FC’s important players this season.
