Jan Gyamerah returns to training ahead of Elversberg vs Augsburg
Elversberg have received a timely boost with the return of right-back Jan Gyamerah to full training.
The 31-year-old has fully recovered from the muscular problem that forced him to withdraw from Ghana’s national-team duty during the recent international break.
Gyamerah picked up the injury in the goalless draw against Schalke 04 before the break. He has since completed his rehabilitation and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga home match against FC Augsburg.
Whether he starts immediately remains uncertain. Luca Sirch has impressed in his absence, particularly during Elversberg’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Union Berlin, where the 27-year-old defender delivered a composed performance on the right side.
Head coach Vincent Wagner praised Sirch’s display, saying: “As long as his legs carried him, he played a really great game.”
That leaves Wagner with a genuine selection decision. Gyamerah brings experience and familiarity to the role, while Sirch has given himself a strong case for another start after his showing in Berlin.
For Elversberg, the return of Gyamerah adds depth and competition at an important stage of the season. His availability could prove valuable as the club look to bounce back against Augsburg.
