Omar Marmoush set for Tottenham medical as £50m Manchester City move nears

Tottenham have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign Egypt international Omar Marmoush, with the forward due to undergo a medical on Monday before completing the move.

The agreement, reported by Fabrizio Romano, will initially see Marmoush join Tottenham on loan. The transfer will become a permanent obligation if specified conditions are met, with the total cost of the deal set to be £50m once those requirements are fulfilled.

Marmoush is expected to have his medical at Tottenham’s training base on Monday as the final steps towards the transfer are completed.

The 26-year-old was absent from Manchester City’s opening-round fixture against Bournemouth, despite being named among the substitutes and not taking part in the match. City won the game 2-1 in dramatic fashion, with Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol scoring in the final seconds.

Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. During his time at the club, he made 62 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists.

He also won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup with Manchester City.

Eintracht Frankfurt are waiting for the transfer to Tottenham to be completed, as the German club are due to receive 15% of the value of the move.

Tottenham began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. They are scheduled to face Newcastle United in the second round of the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Marmoush’s proposed arrival would add another attacking option to a Tottenham side looking to respond to their difficult start. The terms of the agreement mean the move is not immediately a permanent transfer, but the obligation to buy could be activated once the agreed conditions are reached.

The deal would also bring an end to Marmoush’s spell at Manchester City after only one season. He arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt with an established reputation after his performances in Germany and has since contributed to City’s trophy success in England.

There has been no indication that Marmoush was involved in Manchester City’s match against Bournemouth, with his absence from the playing action coming shortly before the proposed medical in north London. His examination on Monday is expected to allow the transfer to proceed, subject to its completion and the conditions attached to the agreement.

For Tottenham, the move comes after a disappointing first Premier League result against Brentford. They will now prepare for their next league fixture against Newcastle United, while Marmoush waits to complete the formalities of his switch from Manchester City.
