Amad Diallo set to miss six weeks for Manchester United after injury setback
Amad Diallo is expected to be out for around six weeks after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury, according to a report focused on Manchester United news.
The Ivory Coast international missed Manchester United’s opening Premier League match, a 2-0 away defeat by Hull City, and is now facing a further spell on the sidelines.
Journalist Sully Tokoz, who covers Manchester United, reported that Diallo aggravated the problem during a training session with the team. The nature of the injury was not specified, but the setback is understood to have extended his expected absence.
Diallo’s unavailability forced Manchester United to alter their attacking line-up against Hull City. Bryan Mbeumo started on the right wing, while Matheus Cunha operated as the central striker.
That combination had not been used extensively by manager Michael Carrick during the club’s preparations for the campaign, meaning Diallo’s absence affected both team selection and the balance of the attack in the opening fixture.
The report represents another setback for Diallo, who joined Manchester United in the summer of 2021. Since arriving at the club, he has missed 59 matches, while making 97 appearances across all competitions.
During those appearances, the Ivorian has scored 16 goals and provided 16 assists for Manchester United.
His absence leaves Carrick without one of the attacking options who had been expected to contribute from the wide areas. The manager will now have to continue working with alternative combinations while Diallo begins his recovery from the latest setback.
Manchester United are preparing to face Ipswich Town next Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 18:30 Cairo time. Diallo is not expected to be available for that match and could remain sidelined for approximately six weeks, according to the report.
The defeat by Hull City means Manchester United began their Premier League campaign without a point, while Diallo’s injury absence adds to the early difficulties facing the club. His eventual return will depend on his recovery after the setback sustained in training.
