The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Nigerian referee Joseph Odey Ogabor to officiate the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifier between Tunisia and Comoros. The announcement was made by the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) on Tuesday evening, confirming the officiating team for the crucial match.

Ogabor will be supported by a team of fellow Nigerians, including assistant referees Samuel Pwadutakam and Abdulmajeed Olaide, with Salisu Basheer serving as the fourth official.

Algerian Mohamed Ghouti has been named as the match commissioner for this important fixture, which is scheduled to take place on October 11 at the Hammadi-Agrebi Olympic Stadium in Radès. The game will kick off at 19:00 GMT.

The match, part of the third round of qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, holds significant importance for both teams.

Tunisia, having won their opening two matches, will be looking to extend their lead at the top of Group A, while Comoros aim to put themselves in contention for qualification.

Tunisia has had a strong start to their ACON 2025 qualifying campaign, securing victories in both of their opening matches.

The Carthage Eagles narrowly defeated Madagascar 1-0 in their first outing, followed by a hard-fought 2-1 win over Gambia.

These results have placed Tunisia at the top of Group A, putting them in a comfortable position as they look to secure early qualification for the tournament, set to be hosted in Morocco from December 2025 to January 2026.

The team’s solid performances have bolstered their confidence going into the fixture against Comoros.

However, Tunisia will be wary of complacency, knowing that Comoros, despite not having registered a victory yet, are capable of posing a threat in the qualifiers.

Comoros, on the other hand, will be seeking to turn their fortunes around after a challenging start to their qualifying campaign.

While they have struggled to find form in their previous matches, the team will be aiming to secure their first win in the qualifiers and improve their standing in Group A.

Facing Tunisia on their home turf in Radès, however, will be no easy task.

The Hammadi-Agrebi Olympic Stadium, known for its passionate Tunisian supporters, will undoubtedly provide a formidable atmosphere as the home side seeks to maintain their unbeaten run.

Joseph Odey Ogabor, the referee appointed for this encounter, brings a wealth of experience to the game.

The Nigerian official has previously officiated several high-profile matches in both continental and domestic competitions, earning a reputation for his firm and fair decision-making.

His role in this vital qualifier will be closely watched, as both teams look to him for balanced and impartial officiating in what promises to be an intense and competitive match.

With everything to play for in this AFCON 2025 qualifier, all eyes will be on Radès as Tunisia and Comoros go head-to-head in pursuit of a crucial victory.
