Wrexham sign Gabon international Jacques Ekomie on four-year deal

Wrexham have signed Gabon international full-back Jacques Ekomie from Angers SCO in a permanent transfer worth more than €8.7m, including bonuses.

The 23-year-old defender has agreed a four-season contract with the Welsh club, keeping him at Wrexham until June 2030. His move brings an end to his spell with Angers SCO after two seasons in France.

Ekomie, who was born in Libreville, will now continue his career in England after crossing the Channel to join Wrexham’s ambitious project. The Championship club have committed a substantial fee to secure his services, with the overall value of the deal estimated to exceed €8.7m once performance-related bonuses are included.

The transfer gives Wrexham another option in defence as they pursue their sporting ambitions in the English second tier. Ekomie is expected to contribute both his versatility and his defensive discipline to the team over the coming seasons.

A full international with Gabon, Ekomie has won 21 caps for the Panthers. His international experience will provide an additional dimension to a Wrexham squad preparing for the demands of Championship football.

The defender’s departure brings his time at Angers SCO to a close after two seasons in France. He now begins a new stage of his career in Wales, with his long-term agreement reflecting Wrexham’s confidence in his ability to strengthen the side.
