Mouine Chaâbani Ends Successful Spell at RS Berkane

RS Berkane have agreed to the departure of head coach Mouine Chaâbani after the Tunisian Football Federation approached him to take charge of the country’s national team.

A source close to the matter confirmed to Le Site Info that the Moroccan club’s management approved the coach’s exit after he emerged as a candidate to lead Tunisia.

The decision brings to an end a successful spell in charge of RS Berkane, during which Chaâbani guided the club to major domestic and continental achievements.

According to the same source, senior figures in Tunisia, including the country’s Minister of Sports, were involved in efforts to persuade the 43-year-old coach to accept the national team role.

The objective, the source said, is to revitalise the Tunisian national side while launching a new sporting project aimed at restructuring the country’s various national teams.

RS Berkane are understood to have accepted the situation without standing in the coach’s way. According to the source, the club’s leadership viewed the opportunity to manage his national team as a responsibility that would be difficult to refuse and therefore chose not to oppose his departure.

Chaâbani leaves Berkane after overseeing one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history.

During his time in charge, he led the Moroccan side to victory in the CAF Confederation Cup and secured the Botola league title the previous season.

Under his leadership, RS Berkane also finished second in the Moroccan top flight last season, adding another strong campaign to the club’s recent record.

His achievements helped establish the club among the leading teams in Moroccan and African football during his tenure, while his work earned him the respect of the club’s supporters.

The decision now closes a chapter that brought silverware and sustained success to RS Berkane, while opening the possibility of a new challenge with the Tunisian national team.

For Berkane, attention will now turn to the search for a successor capable of building on the progress made during Chaâbani’s time at the club.

Meanwhile, the Tunisian coach departs having left a lasting mark through the titles won and the consistency achieved during his spell in charge.
