Morocco star Azzedine Ounahi turns down all offers to leave French club Olympique Marseille
Morocco international Azzedine Ounahi is reluctant to leave French Ligue outfit Olympique Marseille in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The midfielder spent last season on loan with Panathinaikos in Greece, where he got his career back on track. He scored five goals and provided seven assists in 37 appearances following a difficult 18-month period at Marseille.
Panathinaikos held an interest in retaining the player, who has attracted significant interest from a hosts of clubs in Europe.
The French outfit has placed a €12m valuation on the midfielder, who has a contract lasting until 2027. In June, Marseille’s valuation was matched by Spartak Moscow. However, Ounahi was reluctant to join the Russian club and vetoed the transfer.
In a dramatic turn of an event, the midfielder has turned down all offers on the table to leave Marseille as he aim to fight for a place in the team.
Marseille are now frustrated in their efforts to sell the 25-year-old midfielder this summer. The Moroccan international who first arrived in La Provence in 2023 from Angers SCO is being pushed towards the exit door.
Ounahi has been linked with a return to Panathinaikos in Greece, where he had a successful season on loan and has become a firm fan favourite at the club, while he is also attracting interest from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, who are long-term admirers of the player.
