Nathan Tella targets Bayer Leverkusen return after international break

Nathan Tella will remain unavailable for Bayer Leverkusen’s immediate fixtures as he continues recovering from muscular problems.

According to head coach Carles Martinez, the winger is unlikely to return before the upcoming international break.

“Nathan and Montrell Culbreath are not ready yet,” Martinez said during his press conference. Both players will use the interruption in the schedule to continue their rehabilitation and work toward full fitness.

However, the coach left the door open for a quicker recovery. “That could change during the international break. They have these two or three weeks to become ready,” Martinez added.

Tella is therefore expected to miss Leverkusen’s next matches, with the club unwilling to take unnecessary risks over his fitness. The attacking player’s return will depend on how his body responds to the increased workload in training and whether he can complete the necessary steps without setbacks.

If his recovery progresses as planned, Tella could rejoin the squad after the international break. His return would offer Leverkusen another pacey and versatile option in the final third, strengthening Martinez’s attacking choices for the next phase of the campaign.

For now, the club’s priority is patience. Tella and Culbreath will continue their programmes away from competitive action before Leverkusen considers selecting either player again.
