DR Congo hand Sébastien Desabre squad major boost with several dual nationals called up

DR Congo head coach Sébastien Desabre has unveiled his squad for the opening two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with several dual nationals receiving their first call-ups to the Leopards.

The squad, announced on Friday, September 11, also includes players selected for the two-legged friendly against Uganda as Desabre continues to strengthen his team ahead of the upcoming international assignments.

Among the notable inclusions is Jorthy Mokio, who previously represented Belgium at youth level but has now opted to represent DR Congo for the remainder of his international career.

French-born Junior Kadile has also been included, while Netherlands-born Anthony Musaba and France-born Brandon Ndezi have earned places in Desabre’s squad.

Another notable addition is Ezechiël Banzuzi, who previously represented the Netherlands at youth level but has now chosen to switch his international allegiance to DR Congo.

Willy Kambwala, Kevin Pedro, Noah Mbamba-Muanda, Nathan Ndibu Mukadi, Paris Maghoma, Stanis Idumbo Muzambo and Stephy Mavididi also feature among the new faces in Desabre’s squad.

The influx of dual nationals adds further depth and quality to a DR Congo side preparing for their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, with Desabre looking to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for qualification.
