Mohamed Amoura attracting interest from Stuttgart, Benfica and Everton after Wolfsburg relegation

Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amine Amoura is set for a summer move after relegation to Germany’s second tier, with Stuttgart, Benfica and Everton all weighing up a bid for the Algeria international, according to reports in Germany.

Despite an inconsistent campaign blighted by injuries and a largely anonymous 2026 World Cup, the 26-year-old’s reputation remains strong enough for three major European clubs to position themselves for a deal, claims German daily Bild.

Amoura, who joined Wolfsburg from Union Saint-Gilloise and finished as the club’s top scorer with eight Bundesliga goals, is expected to leave following the club’s drop from the top flight, having been frozen out in the final weeks of the season.

Stuttgart offer Bundesliga continuity

Stuttgart are viewed as the most straightforward option in sporting terms, with Amoura already familiar with the demands and tempo of the Bundesliga after two seasons in Germany.

The Swabian club are understood to see his explosiveness and runs into space as attributes that fit their attacking model. A move to the Mercedes-Benz Arena would also reunite him with compatriot Badredine Bouanani, offering an additional attraction for the forward.

Staying in the Bundesliga would allow Amoura to build on the platform he has already established in Germany, while avoiding the adaptation period that might be required in a new league.

Benfica seen as strategic springboard

Benfica are also in the frame and are regarded as a more strategic choice for the Algerian. The Lisbon giants tracked Amoura last summer and, according to Bild, have never completely dropped their interest.

Regularly involved in European competition and renowned for signing players, developing them and then selling at a premium, Benfica could provide a significant career springboard if Amoura proves he can consistently perform at the highest level.

The Portuguese club’s model of enhancing players’ value may be particularly attractive for a forward whose market standing remains solid despite a troubled season.

Everton interest would open Premier League door

Everton, meanwhile, represent the path to one of Amoura’s long-stated ambitions: playing in the Premier League.

A move to Goodison Park would give the striker an opportunity to test himself in what is widely seen as the most high-profile league in world football, with exposure that far exceeds what he has experienced so far in his career.

At 26, a transfer to England would come at a decisive moment in his development, presenting both a substantial challenge and a chance to reassert his credentials on a bigger stage.

Form, fitness and discipline under scrutiny

Although Wolfsburg struggled collectively last season, Amoura still managed to underline his quality in phases, ending as the club’s leading scorer with eight league goals before being dropped from the squad towards the end of the campaign.

His World Cup, however, did not provide the platform for a revival. Hampered by injury, he featured in only one match for Algeria at the tournament and was unable to influence their campaign.

The biggest concern for potential suitors may lie off the pitch. Amoura has faced several disciplinary measures at Wolfsburg, including two separate exclusions from the first-team group in the space of a few months.

An incident in training with Kevin Paredes led Dieter Hecking to remove him from the squad in May, and it was not the first time he had been sanctioned for his behaviour.

While few doubt his raw ability, clubs are likely to seek assurances about his consistency and attitude before committing to a transfer. Stuttgart, Benfica and Everton are all seen as possible routes to a fresh start, but it will be down to Amoura to show he is ready to take the step many in Europe have long expected of him.
