Mo Faal has completed a loan move from Wrexham to Cheltenham Town, joining the League Two side on a temporary deal that runs from 2026-02-02 to 2026-06-30. The 22-year-old centre-forward leaves the Welsh club to seek regular minutes in England’s fourth tier, with the agreement registered as a loan transfer and no permanent option disclosed.
The switch places the Gambian-English striker, currently valued at €400k, into a new environment where he will be expected to bolster Cheltenham’s attacking options for the remainder of the campaign. At the end of the loan, he is scheduled to return to Wrexham, and with no longer-term contract information provided beyond that point, his medium‑term future remains open, including the possibility of becoming a free agent if no extension or new deal is agreed.
Faal arrives at Cheltenham having already built a varied CV across English football. Developed in the West Bromwich Albion system, he progressed from the club’s U18 side to the U21s before embarking on a series of loan spells that exposed him to different levels and styles of the game. Those temporary moves took him to Hereford FC, AFC Telford United, AFC Fylde, Doncaster Rovers, Walsall FC and most recently Port Vale FC, before his permanent transfer to Wrexham and now this new loan to Cheltenham.
The move also continues Faal’s pattern of operating within the English pyramid rather than in his countries of nationality, The Gambia and England. Although he holds dual nationality, his club career to date has been entirely based in Britain, and this latest transfer keeps him in League Two, a competition that has already featured prominently in his development through previous loans.
A tall, 1.96m right-footed centre-forward, Faal is listed primarily as an attack-focused player in the central role. That profile underpins Cheltenham’s decision to reinforce their forward line with a target man capable of occupying defenders and providing a focal point in the final third. His experience across multiple clubs and leagues in England suggests adaptability, with repeated loans followed by recalls indicating that parent clubs have regularly assessed him in different competitive settings.
Faal’s market value has risen in recent years, climbing from €225k during his spell at Doncaster Rovers to its current level of €400k during his time with Wrexham and Port Vale. That trajectory underlines how his performances have been viewed within the market, even as he has continued to move frequently on loan.
With the loan now confirmed and an automatic return to Wrexham set for 2026-06-30, the coming months at Cheltenham will be pivotal. Strong displays in League Two could enhance his standing ahead of the next window, influence Wrexham’s plans for him, and sharpen the question of whether he remains part of their long‑term project or moves on again when his contractual situation allows.
