Lucas Digne returns to Paris Saint-Germain after 10 years

Paris Saint-Germain have re-signed Lucas Digne from Aston Villa, bringing the France international back to the club a decade after his first spell in Paris.

Digne, 32, has agreed a three-season contract with Paris Saint-Germain that will run until 2029. The club have confirmed that he will wear the number 12 shirt.

The move marks Digne’s return to Paris Saint-Germain after he left the club 10 years ago. He previously represented the French side between 2013 and 2016, before continuing his career elsewhere in Europe.

Digne joined Aston Villa in 2022 from Everton and remained with the Premier League club for four seasons. During his time at Villa, he made 182 appearances, scoring four goals and providing 24 assists.

His final campaign with Aston Villa was particularly busy. Digne played 44 matches last season and set up seven goals.

The left-back’s return to Paris Saint-Germain comes after he helped Aston Villa through four seasons before agreeing to rejoin the club where his senior career included a spell from 2013 to 2016.

Digne also represented France at the 2026 World Cup. France finished fourth in the tournament, with Digne included in the squad that reached the final stages of the competition.

Paris Saint-Germain’s announcement completes the defender’s return to a club he first joined more than a decade ago. His new deal will keep him in Paris through the end of the 2028-29 season.

The French club have not disclosed any further details of the agreement, but the signing gives them an experienced international defender with extensive Premier League experience. Digne’s record at Aston Villa includes 182 appearances, four goals and 24 assists, while his seven assists last season came across 44 matches.

His career has now taken him back to Paris, where he will once again play for Paris Saint-Germain in the number 12 shirt.
