Red Bull Salzbourg take a 1-0 advantage into half-time against Levski Sofia after a controlled first-half performance in Bulgaria.
The Austrian side dictated the pace from the opening stages and deservedly moved in front before the interval. Their pressure restricted Levski Sofia, who were frequently too cautious in possession and struggled to create space in front of their home supporters.
The breakthrough arrived in the 39th minute. Haris Tabakovic was found in the penalty area and made no mistake, calmly beating the Levski Sofia goalkeeper to score the opening goal.
The strike rewarded Salzbourg’s sustained dominance and left the home side facing a difficult task after 45 minutes. Levski Sofia will need to produce a significantly improved display in the second half if they are to turn the match around.
Red Bull Salzbourg, meanwhile, return for the second period in a strong position and will look to build on their advantage as they seek to secure a valuable Ligue Europa victory.
