President of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji, has secured a position on the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Executive Committee, the organization’s highest decision-making body.
The election was confirmed during the CAF General Assembly held in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for Liberian football leadership on the continental stage.
Raji ran unopposed for the position representing the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A.
His candidacy received strong support from fellow member associations within the zone, paving the way for his uncontested election to the prestigious committee.
The Liberian football chief was one of five candidates who secured guaranteed positions on the CAF Executive Committee.
Joining Raji in the unopposed list are Kurt Okraku from Ghana representing WAFU Zone B, Wallace Karia from Tanzania representing CECAFA, Sadi Walid from Algeria representing UNAF, and former international football star Samuel Eto’o from Cameroon representing UNIFFAC.
This election comes as a recognition of Raji’s efforts in developing Liberian football.
During his tenure as LFA President, Raji has focused on youth development initiatives, financial reforms, and infrastructure improvements, aiming to elevate Liberian football both nationally and internationally.
Raji’s election to the CAF Executive Committee is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the continental body and potentially open new opportunities for Liberian football on the African stage.
