Karim Adeyemi: Barcelona sign Germany forward from Borussia Dortmund on long-term deal

Barcelona have completed the signing of Germany forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on a contract running until 2031, in a major attacking reinforcement for new head coach Hansi Flick.

The Catalan club confirmed on Thursday that an agreement had been reached with Dortmund for the 22-year-old striker, who becomes Barca’s second high-profile arrival of the summer transfer window.

No fee was disclosed in the club’s statement, but the long-term deal underlines Barcelona’s belief that Adeyemi can play a central role in their next cycle under Flick.

Reunion with Flick

Adeyemi’s move to the Olympic Stadium sets up a reunion with Flick, the coach who first handed him his senior Germany debut when he was in charge of the national team.

The pair will now work together at club level for the first time, with Flick tasked with reshaping Barcelona after a trophyless season and the departure of former manager Xavi Hernandez.

By bringing in Adeyemi, Barcelona are adding pace, direct running and versatility in attack, attributes Flick has previously trusted at international level.

Second major summer signing

Adeyemi is Barcelona’s second summer capture after the arrival of England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

Barcelona said on their official website that Adeyemi had signed a contract with the club until 2031, confirming that all terms with Borussia Dortmund had been agreed.
