Yan Diomande tight-lipped on his future

Ivory Coast winger Yann Diomande insists he is fully focused on the 2026 FIFA World Cup amid growing transfer speculations.

The highly-rated attacker, who currently plays for RB Leipzig, has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in European football following his impressive performances in the Bundesliga and at the World Cup.

Liverpool are among the clubs strongly monitoring the Ivorian international, with reports suggesting the Premier League side are prepared to pay as much as £86 million to secure his signature this summer.

However, Diomande has made it clear that transfer speculation is not his priority at the moment as he remains concentrated on helping Ivory Coast progress further in the tournament.

However, the enterprising attacker has shut down summer transfer links, while shifting focus to the global showpiece.

“No, I don’t know where I will play next season,” Diomande said.

The 23-year-old also stressed that he does not want discussions about his future to distract him from the World Cup campaign.

“I’m not thinking about my future after the World Cup. I’m trying to focus all my energy on the tournament and see what happens afterward, but I can’t say anything about that,” he added.

Diomande has been one of Ivory Coast’s standout performers during the tournament and has attracted praise for his pace, creativity and direct attacking style.

His performances have played an important role in helping the Elephants secure qualification to the round of 32 after finishing second in Group E with six points.

Ivory Coast won two matches and drew one during the group stage to book their place in the knockout rounds, continuing the strong showing of African nations at the tournament.

Liverpool’s interest in Diomande comes as the club continue plans to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, with the Ivory Coast international viewed as one of the brightest young talents in European football.

Despite the growing transfer rumours, Diomande remains determined to keep his attention on international duty before making any decisions regarding his future.
