Frederic Ananou linked with FC Ingolstadt return after leaving Olimpija

Togo-Germany defender Frederic Ananou, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to FC Ingolstadt in Germany’s 3. Liga.

The 28-year-old right-back left Slovenian side NK Olimpija on 28 August, ending a spell that began in July 2025. He made no appearances in Olimpija’s six possible league matches this season before his departure.

Ananou previously played for Ingolstadt between January 2018 and August 2020, having joined from Dutch club Roda JC for a reported €250,000. His time at the German club was followed by spells with SC Paderborn, Hansa Rostock, Sint-Truiden and Jahn Regensburg.

He moved to Regensburg from Sint-Truiden in January 2025 before joining Olimpija on a free transfer in July of that year. His return to Ingolstadt would therefore represent a second spell with the club, although no transfer fee or agreement has been disclosed.

Ananou began his senior career in Germany after progressing through the youth system at 1. FC Koln. He was part of Germany’s Under-20 side that won the U20 Elite League in the 2017-18 season.

The right-back is currently unattached following his departure from Olimpija, with FC Ingolstadt the club linked with securing his services.
