FIFA President Infantino commends Wallace Karia’s leadership in Tanzania football development
Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia has held discussions with FIFA President Gianni Infantino as global football’s governing body continues to recognise the progress and transformation of football in Tanzania.
The meeting focused on the continued growth of the sport in Tanzania, with both leaders exchanging ideas on development initiatives aimed at strengthening football structures, improving opportunities for players, and expanding the game’s impact across the country and the East African region.
FIFA is reportedly impressed with the strides made under Karia’s leadership, with his work in football administration earning recognition beyond Tanzania. His influence has also been highlighted through his previous role as President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) and his current position as a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.
During his time leading CECAFA, Karia played a key role in promoting regional competitions and improving cooperation among football associations in East and Central Africa. His tenure has been credited with helping to enhance the visibility and organisation of football across the region.
At the TFF, Karia has overseen efforts aimed at improving the country’s football ecosystem, including the development of grassroots football, strengthening domestic competitions and creating a more sustainable pathway for young talents.
The engagement with Infantino further underlines the growing relationship between FIFA and Tanzanian football authorities, with international support expected to continue playing a role in the country’s football development plans.
Karia’s rising profile within African football administration has positioned him as one of the influential figures in the region, as Tanzania continues its ambition to establish itself as a major force in African football.
