Everton and Sporting Lisbon interested in Minnesota United striker Kelvin Yeboah

Minnesota United striker Kelvin Yeboah has become the subject of growing interest from European clubs, with Everton and Sporting Lisbon both monitoring the Ghana international ahead of the January transfer window.

Yeboah has impressed during his season in Major League Soccer, scoring 18 league goals and establishing himself among the division’s most prolific forwards. Only Lionel Messi and a few other players have produced a better attacking return this season.

His form has drawn the attention of clubs looking to strengthen their forward lines, with Everton understood to be among the leading contenders for his signature.

Everton identify Yeboah as attacking target

According to TEAMtalk, Everton have made Yeboah one of their main targets as they seek to add another centre-forward to their squad. The Premier League club are looking for a player who can provide more options in front of goal and regard the Minnesota United forward as a potential fit for those requirements.

Everton are expected to consider a move when the transfer window opens in January, with the club aiming to improve their attacking resources for the second half of the season. Interest from other European sides, however, could make the deal more difficult to complete.

Sporting Lisbon are also following Yeboah closely and are understood to have watched him on several occasions in recent months. Their scouting activity suggests the Portuguese club’s interest is becoming more concrete.

Sporting have developed a reputation for recruiting attacking players with the potential to improve and establish themselves in European football. Yeboah’s earlier experience of playing in different European leagues is also considered an advantage.

The involvement of Sporting Lisbon could complicate Everton’s pursuit. The Portuguese club are capable of attracting forwards seeking a new challenge in Europe, making them serious competition in the race for the player.

Contract could make January move possible

Yeboah is under contract with Minnesota United until December 2027, but his estimated market value is around 7 million euros.

That figure could be viewed as manageable by European clubs searching for a proven goalscorer who may still have scope to progress. It could also encourage Minnesota United to consider offers once the winter window opens, although no official decision has been announced.

With Everton’s interest and Sporting Lisbon continuing to assess him, Yeboah could become the focus of a transfer contest between England and Portugal.

The 18 goals he has scored in the league have established his effectiveness, but the next stage will depend on which sporting project appeals to him and whether Minnesota United are prepared to sell one of their leading attacking players in January.
