AC Milan keeping close watch on Union Saint-Gilloise defender Massire Sylla

AC Milan are monitoring the progress of Union Saint-Gilloise’s 21-year-old Senegalese centre-back Massire Sylla, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

Sylla has emerged as a potential defensive target for the Italian club after making an encouraging start with the Belgian side. No formal offer has been made, but his performances have attracted attention beyond the Jupiler Pro League.

Standing at 1.96m, Sylla offers a strong physical presence at the heart of defence. The right-footer is powerful in challenges and comfortable in contact, while his ability to operate in more than one position adds to his appeal.

He can also play in front of the defence as a defensive midfielder, a role he occupied during his early development at the Diambars FC academy in Senegal.

Experience across Europe

Born in Senegal on 7 January 2005, Sylla has already gained experience in several European leagues. He began his European career with Pau FC in France before continuing his development in Norway with Lyn.

On 13 January 2026, he moved to Union Saint-Gilloise, who compete in the Jupiler Pro League. His contract with the Belgian club runs until 30 June 2030, reflecting the confidence placed in him by the club’s management.

Sylla has played nine league matches since the start of the season and has scored once. Those appearances have helped him establish himself progressively within the team and have contributed to the growing interest in his profile.

According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at 5 million euros. That figure could rise if he continues to produce performances that attract positive attention.

Milan interest grows

AC Milan’s interest underlines the progress Sylla has made at the age of 21. His height, strength and positional flexibility are qualities that could make him an appealing option for the Italian club’s ambitions.

For now, there is no indication of an official bid. However, being monitored by a club of AC Milan’s stature represents an important sign of Sylla’s development as he continues to build his career.

Union Saint-Gilloise will soon play their fourth match of the league phase of the Europa League against Celta Vigo.
