Congo-Israeli winger Mavis Tchibota makes Hapoel Acre switch
Mavis Tchibota, the Congo-Israeli winger, has joined Hapoel Acre from Romanian club Sepsi OSK on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old completed the move on 3 September 2026 and will continue his career in Israel with Hapoel Acre, who play in Liga Leumit. Tchibota operates primarily on the left wing and is known for favouring his right foot.
He arrives after one year with Sepsi OSK, having joined the Romanian side from Russian club Akron Tolyatti in September 2025, also on a free transfer. Before that move, Tchibota spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Bnei Sakhnin from Akron.
Tchibota has built the majority of his career in Israel, making 149 appearances in the country’s top division and scoring 28 goals, while registering 13 assists. He has also played 58 matches in Bulgaria’s top flight, where he scored 13 times and provided 10 assists.
His career has included spells with several established Israeli clubs. He came through at Maccabi Tel Aviv after moving from Congolese side Diables Noirs to the club’s under-19 team in 2014. He later spent time on loan at Hapoel Kfar Saba before joining Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv permanently in 2018.
Tchibota moved to Bulgarian club Ludogorets in 2019 for a reported €800,000 transfer fee. During his time there, he won the Bulgarian title three times, in 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, and lifted the Bulgarian Super Cup twice.
He returned to Israel with Maccabi Haifa in February 2022 in a €1.3m move. Tchibota won the Israeli championship with the club in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, adding to the Israeli Cup he had claimed with Bnei Yehuda in 2018-19.
The winger then joined Hapoel Tel Aviv as a free agent in August 2023 before moving to Akron Tolyatti the following year. His record also includes appearances in the Champions League and Europa League, as well as domestic cup competitions in Bulgaria, Romania and Israel.
Tchibota’s free transfer from Sepsi OSK to Hapoel Acre was completed on 3 September 2026.
