Club source ends rumors about Rui Aguas’s appointment at Zamalek
Recent days have seen persistent speculation about Portuguese coach Rui Aguas potentially taking over the managerial role at Zamalek, following Ahmed Abdel Raouf’s leadership.
However, a senior figure at the club made it clear on Thursday that no contact has been made with Aguas, firmly stating the club is not considering bringing him in at this time.
The source told Kooora, “There has been no communication from Zamalek officials with Rui Aguas for the head coach position. We have complete faith in Ahmed Abdel Raouf and the current staff.” The administration fully supports Abdel Raouf, especially with the team set to begin the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup against Zambia’s Zesco United this Sunday.
The first-team squad has now resumed full training with all internationals back from national duty. Abdel Raouf held a special session to outline the training schedule for the coming days, focusing on tactical and physical details. The physical coach, Nuno Costa Ribeiro, led a variety of drills to boost both fitness and ball skills ahead of the important matches.
In good news, the club has officially received approval for 46,200 fans to attend the Confederation Cup opener at Cairo Stadium. Meanwhile, some changes were made to the coaching staff, with Mario Tomljanovic departing as agreed and performance analyst Mohamed Alaa stepping down as well.
