Lazio have identified Moroccan striker Yanis Begraoui as a potential replacement for Senegal international Boulaye Dia, who is closing in on a move to French club Rennes.

Dia has agreed personal terms with Rennes, leaving the French club and Lazio to negotiate a transfer fee for the Senegalese forward.

Lazio are reportedly demanding €15m before allowing Dia to leave, with the outcome of those negotiations set to determine whether Begraoui can make the move to Rome.

According to Foot Mercato, the Estoril Praia striker is one of the leading candidates being considered by the Serie A club.

Begraoui deal depends on Dia’s departure

Lazio are keeping Begraoui high on their list while they wait for Dia’s transfer to be completed.

The Italian club’s interest in the Moroccan forward is directly linked to the Senegalese striker’s departure, meaning Begraoui’s potential move to Rome cannot progress until Lazio and Rennes reach an agreement.

Dia’s decision to join Rennes has already cleared one hurdle, but the clubs must still settle the transfer fee.

Moroccan striker enjoyed prolific season

Begraoui has attracted Lazio’s attention following an impressive 2025-26 campaign with Estoril.

The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in 34 Liga Portugal matches, establishing himself as one of the division’s most prolific forwards.

His goalscoring form made him an important attacking figure for Estoril and has now opened the possibility of a move to one of Italy’s established Serie A clubs.

From France to Portugal

Begraoui developed in the youth system at French club Auxerre before gaining senior experience with Toulouse and Pau FC.

He eventually established himself as a regular starter at Estoril, where his performances have significantly raised his profile.

The Moroccan international now has an opportunity to take another major step in his career.

A move to Lazio would bring Begraoui to Serie A and represent a significant milestone for the striker after his breakthrough campaign in Portugal.

For now, however, his potential transfer remains dependent on Lazio completing Dia’s move to Rennes and receiving the €15m fee they are seeking.
