Esperance Sportive de Tunis strengthen attack with Tunisia international Hazem Mastouri
Esperance Sportive de Tunis have completed the signing of Tunisia international Hazem Mastouri from Dynamo Makhachkala on a two-year contract.
The 29-year-old striker has joined the Tunisian club during the summer transfer window after successfully passing his medical examination in Tunis. His agreement includes an option for a further season, although that extension can only be activated with the approval of Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
The club confirmed Mastouri’s arrival on its official website, completing a move that had been anticipated in recent days. He had been expected in Tunis for medical tests before the transfer could be formally concluded.
Mastouri’s recruitment is part of Esperance Sportive de Tunis’ efforts to add greater depth and experience to its attacking options. The club is also counting on his familiarity with Tunisian football as he returns to the domestic game after spells in Iraq and Russia.
The centre-forward began his career in Tunisia with Etoile Sportive de Metlaoui and later represented Union Sportive Monastirienne. He then moved abroad, playing for Al-Najaf in Iraq before joining Dynamo Makhachkala in Russia.
During the 2025-26 season, Mastouri made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists. His arrival gives Esperance another option in attack as they continue to reshape their squad during the summer recruitment period.
Esperance Sportive de Tunis have already been active in the transfer market. The club has also signed Imad Faraj, Jesus Castillo, Lucas Ribeiro, Raed Chikhaoui, Mael Fernandez Monyebe and Marouane Sahraoui.
Mastouri’s deal is therefore the latest step in a broader recruitment strategy as the Tunisian club seeks to strengthen its forward line. His previous experience with leading Tunisian sides, combined with his time overseas, was identified as an important factor behind the move.
The signing was completed after the striker cleared his medical, allowing both parties to finalise the two-season commitment. Any decision on a third year will remain in the hands of Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
