Champions League: Bayern Munich and Manchester United make winning starts

The opening matchday of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league phase concluded on Thursday, with Bayern Munich and Manchester United among the teams to record convincing victories.

Bayern Munich began their campaign with a 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt, helped by two goals from Michael Olise.

Manchester United also made an emphatic start, beating Sabah 4-0 to underline their strong opening performance in the competition.

The other four matches produced two draws and two away wins. Fenerbahce and AS Roma shared a 1-1 draw, while PSV Eindhoven were held to the same scoreline by Shakhtar Donetsk.

Lens secured a 3-2 victory away to Slavia Prague, and Como claimed the most decisive result of the remaining fixtures by beating RB Leipzig 4-1.
