Cerno Kaba has completed a permanent move from FC Grimma to SG Taucha 99, joining the Sachsenliga club on a free transfer. The deal was finalised with his contract at SG Taucha 99 running from 2026-02-01 to 2027-06-30, confirming the 19-year-old winger’s departure from Grimma and ending any uncertainty over his immediate future.
The transfer keeps the German‑Guinean attacker in the German pyramid but shifts him from the NOFV-Oberliga Süd, where FC Grimma compete, into the Sachsenliga, the division in which SG Taucha 99 operate. With no transfer fee paid, SG Taucha 99 secure a young, versatile wide player without a market valuation attached to his name, while Grimma lose a prospect who had only joined them ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Kaba arrives as an attack-minded left winger, officially listed as “Attack – Left Winger” and preferring his right foot, which allows him to cut inside from the flank. Born in Leipzig and standing 1.76 m tall, he combines local roots with dual nationality, being associated with both Germany and Guinea. His move to Taucha continues a career spent entirely in German football so far, despite his Guinean background.
Before signing for SG Taucha 99, Kaba’s pathway ran through several youth and under-19 setups. He developed at RB Leipzig Youth before stepping into SC Borea Dresden’s U17 side, later progressing to SC Borea Dresden U19. From there he joined Rot-Weiß Erfurt U19, again in German youth competition, and then moved to FC Grimma, where he entered senior football in the NOFV-Oberliga Süd. Each switch, from RB Leipzig Youth in 2022 to SC Borea Dresden’s age-group teams and then to Erfurt and Grimma, has kept him within Germany’s tightly linked regional structure.
His latest transfer to SG Taucha 99 places him in the Sachsenliga, meaning he continues to compete abroad relative to his Guinean nationality while still operating away from top-tier German visibility. It also ensures he will not enter free agency this cycle, as his new contract with Taucha is already in place through to 2027-06-30.
While no official market value is listed, the absence of a fee underlines the low-risk nature of the move for SG Taucha 99 and highlights how players in these levels can change clubs without major financial outlay. For Kaba, the transfer represents continuity in German regional football, another step in a route that has consistently taken him through developmental environments known for giving young attackers game time.
The move solidifies a trajectory that has seen him remain inside Germany’s system despite his dual-national status. If he continues to progress at SG Taucha 99, this confirmed transfer could become an important staging point, offering regular senior minutes and a platform to refine his attacking game over the length of his new deal.
