Bastoni agent signals openness to Real Madrid move despite Inter commitment

Alessandro Bastoni’s agent has underlined the defender’s commitment to Inter Milan while simultaneously leaving the door open to a possible future transfer, amid reported interest from Real Madrid and head coach Jose Mourinho.

Tullio Tinti, who represents the Italy international, stressed that Bastoni remains happy at San Siro but hinted that a suitable offer for both player and club could change the picture.

“There are still two years left on Bastoni’s contract with Inter, and he loves the club’s colours and is not currently thinking about moving to any other team,” Tinti told Sky Sport Italia.

He then qualified that stance, adding: “But if in the future a club appears that satisfies Inter and the player, we can discuss it. At the moment there is nothing concrete that suggests real negotiations.”

The Spanish newspaper AS reported that Bastoni is on a list of targets drawn up by Real Madrid coach Mourinho, who is looking at options to strengthen his squad this summer.

Madrid interest and transfer conditions

According to AS, Tinti’s remarks were interpreted in Spain as a calculated “carrot and stick” message: reaffirming Bastoni’s attachment to Inter while at the same time signalling that he could be prised away under the right conditions.

The agent effectively kept the possibility of a departure alive, making clear that an acceptable bid would trigger talks.

Tinti has “left the door open” to a move, the report said, with the understanding that any negotiations would only begin if an offer arrived that satisfied both Bastoni and Inter Milan.

Real Madrid, however, have not yet taken any formal steps towards signing the centre-back, despite his presence on Mourinho’s list of preferred options.

For the Spanish club to proceed with any new signing, AS stated that they would first need to sell a player to create room in the squad and budget. The same condition applies to the two positions Mourinho is most keen to reinforce: centre-back and central midfield.

Mourinho’s defensive options

The report adds that Mourinho currently has five players available for the centre-back role at Real Madrid: new arrival Ibrahima Konate, Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger, Asensio and Eder Militao.

That depth in central defence is another reason why Real Madrid are expected to move cautiously in the market, with potential sales required before any formal approach for Bastoni or another defender can be made.

Bastoni, who has established himself as a key figure at Inter Milan and a regular with the Italian national team, remains under contract for another two years, giving the Serie A club a strong position in any future negotiations.

For now, Inter retain their defender and Real Madrid have yet to translate Mourinho’s reported admiration into an official bid, but Tinti’s carefully worded comments ensure that Bastoni’s name will stay in the conversation as the summer window develops.
