Axel Disasi has completed a loan move from Chelsea to West Ham United, joining the Hammers on a temporary deal that runs from 2026-02-02 to 2026-06-30. The France/DR Congo centre-back arrives in east London from another Premier League club, with the transfer registered as a loan transfer and his current market value listed at €15.00m.
The agreement keeps Disasi contracted to Chelsea, with a pre-arranged return to Stamford Bridge scheduled for 2026-06-30, meaning he is not set to become a free agent at the end of his West Ham spell. Instead, the switch offers the 27-year-old a mid-season opportunity to re-establish himself as a top-level defender in England’s top flight while remaining tied to his parent club.
Disasi, born in Gonesse and standing at 1.91m, is a right-footed central defender whose primary position is at the heart of the back line. His career has taken him through several stages of French football before establishing himself in the Premier League. After early development at Paris FC’s youth and B teams, he moved to Stade Reims B and then into the Reims first team, where his market value rose from €400k in 2018 to €13m by mid-2020, reflecting his growing reputation in Ligue 1.
That progress earned him a transfer to AS Monaco, where his value climbed as high as €30m in 2023 after regular top-flight and European-level exposure. Monaco then sold him to Chelsea in 2023, a move that initially pushed his valuation up to €42m later that year. While at Chelsea, Disasi featured as a Premier League centre-back and saw his value fluctuate, dipping to €30m in 2024 and then €15m by late 2025, indicating a period of reduced impact or playing time.
Seeking more minutes, Disasi spent part of the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa from Chelsea, before returning to Stamford Bridge at the end of that spell. From there, Chelsea again opted for a loan solution, this time to West Ham, keeping him within the same league but offering a different environment and tactical setup. The move ensures Disasi remains in the Premier League rather than returning to France, prolonging his experience abroad away from his home country.
West Ham’s acquisition of Disasi gives them a tall, aerially strong centre-back with experience in both Ligue 1 and the Premier League, and a transfer history that includes spells at Paris FC, Reims, Monaco, Aston Villa, Chelsea and now the Hammers. For Chelsea, the deal preserves the player’s contractual value and keeps open the possibility of reintegration or a future permanent move once the loan ends.
With the loan structured to conclude on 2026-06-30, the coming months at West Ham will be pivotal in determining Disasi’s next step. A strong run of form in claret and blue could stabilise or even boost his market value and reframe his status at Chelsea, while also shaping how his prime years are spent at the top level of the game.
