Ashraf Agoro, a forward who has made his mark across West African football, has taken the next step in his career by joining Benin’s Association Sportive du Port Autonome de Cotonou (ASPAC). After a standout season with Damissa FC, where he emerged as the second-highest scorer in the Beninese championship, Agoro is now focused on making a significant impact with his new club.

The 26-year-old, who has previously played in Togo, Gabon, Burkina Faso, and Niger, appears to have settled well into his new environment in Benin.

Speaking to 228foot, Agoro shared his enthusiasm for the move and his ambitions for the upcoming season.

“I have been very well received at ASPAC. The atmosphere within the group is excellent,” Agoro said. “I chose this club because of its clearly stated ambitions: to play a leading role in the championship.

The leaders are determined to progress and reach new heights. I really appreciate the people who make up this club.

It was also their coach who convinced me to sign here, because many Beninese clubs were interested in my profile. But ASPAC, with its ambitious projects, was able to seduce me.”

Agoro’s decision to sign with ASPAC was not taken lightly. After an impressive 2023/24 season with Damissa FC, where he netted 13 goals—four in the first leg and nine in the second leg—he attracted interest from several clubs in Benin.

However, the ambitious plans of ASPAC and the persuasive efforts of their coach played a decisive role in his choice.

“My ambition with ASPAC is clear: to finish first or second at the end of the 2024-2025 season. On a personal level, I am aiming for the title of top scorer,” Agoro stated.

His confidence is backed by his consistent performance in the previous season, where his goal-scoring prowess was instrumental in Damissa FC’s campaign.

Agoro’s arrival at ASPAC is seen as a strategic move for both the player and the club. For ASPAC, securing a player of Agoro’s caliber signals their intent to be a dominant force in the Beninese championship.

For Agoro, the move represents an opportunity to further cement his status as one of the top forwards in the region.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Agoro to see if he can replicate and surpass his previous success.

With his sights set on leading ASPAC to the top of the table and claiming the top scorer’s title, Agoro’s journey with the Portuaires is poised to be one of the most intriguing storylines of the 2024-2025 Beninese football season.
