Stéphane Keller joins Al Ittihad on permanent deal

Al Ittihad have reportedly activated the buy-out clause for Cameroonian defender Stéphane Keller, securing his services on a permanent basis following an impressive loan spell in the Saudi Pro League.

Keller initially joined Al Ittihad on loan from Cypriot club AEL Limassol during the winter transfer window, a move that was intended to bolster the club’s defensive options mid-season. However, his performances quickly convinced the Saudi giants that he was worth keeping beyond the short-term arrangement.

The 25-year-old centre-back made a strong impression with his consistency, physical presence, and ability to adapt quickly to the demands of top-level football in Saudi Arabia. His performances reportedly earned the full confidence of the club’s technical staff and management.

As a result, Al Ittihad moved decisively to trigger the buy-out clause included in his loan agreement, ensuring that Keller will now remain at the club on a permanent deal.

Following the activation of the clause, Keller has been offered a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, underlining the Saudi side’s commitment to building stability in their defensive unit.

The decision reflects Al Ittihad’s broader strategy of securing key players who can contribute to both domestic success and continental ambitions in the coming seasons. The club views Keller as an important piece in their long-term defensive structure.

For Keller, the permanent move represents a significant step forward in his career. After developing in Cyprus with AEL Limassol, the move to one of Saudi Arabia’s top clubs provides him with a bigger platform, increased competition, and the opportunity to further establish himself in a rapidly growing league.

The Saudi Pro League continues to attract international talent, and Keller’s permanent signing adds to the league’s expanding pool of African players making their mark in the region.

With the deal now expected to be finalized, Al Ittihad are confident they have secured a defender capable of contributing to their ambitions for both domestic titles and continental competitions in the years ahead.
