Achraf Hakimi working ‘almost six hours a day’ to speed up recovery ahead of 2025 AFCON
Former Morocco coach and technical director Nasser Larguet has offered fresh insight into Achraf Hakimi’s recovery as the Paris Saint-Germain defender races against time to be ready for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
Hakimi has been out since picking up an injury in PSG’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, a setback that immediately raised concerns within the national team camp.
Larguet revealed that the star full-back is currently on a demanding rehabilitation programme aimed at accelerating his return.
According to him, Hakimi is putting in “almost six hours a day” of recovery work, underlining his determination to regain full fitness and rejoin both club and country.
PSG, meanwhile, has confirmed that the player remains under strict medical monitoring, with tailored treatment sessions to track his progress.
His absence has been deeply felt. For Morocco, Hakimi’s influence extends far beyond his defensive duties — his overlaps, set-piece quality and overall dynamism form a key part of the Atlas Lions’ identity.
With Morocco hosting AFCON 2025, expectations are soaring, and the availability of their marquee players is critical.
Hakimi’s successful return is therefore seen as essential to the country’s hopes of capturing the continental title for the first time since 1976.
